Parish Council Election for Burnaston
An election will be held for Burnaston Parish Council on Thursday 19 March 2026. If you’d like to stand as a candidate, nomination papers must be hand-delivered to SDDC by 4pm on Friday 20 February 2026.


Council Area Forum Meetings 2026 (South Derbyshire)
South Derbyshire District Council is holding a series of Council Area Forum Meetings in early 2026, giving residents the chance to hear updates and raise local issues. Burnaston is covered under the Etwall Area Forum, taking place on Tuesday 24 February at Etwall Frank Wickham Hall. All meetings commence at 6:30pm.

Local Plan Part 2 Review Drop-In Event Rescheduled
Due to the current severe snow and ice weather warning, South Derbyshire District Council has postponed the Local Plan Part 2 Review: Issues and Options consultation drop-in event originally scheduled for Friday 9 January. The event will now take place at Hilton Village Hall on Tuesday 20 January, from 4pm to 7pm.


New Local Plan for Derby. Consultation starting January 2026
Derby City Council will begin an eight-week public consultation on the draft Local Plan in January 2026. The plan will guide how Derby develops up to 2043, covering housing, transport, the environment and local infrastructure.

Swad Heritage Fest 2025 at Sharpe’s Pottery Museum
South Derbyshire’s Swad Heritage Festival is back this September, offering a weekend of history, heritage and family fun at Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in Swadlincote.
Taking place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2025, the festival runs from 11:00am to 4:30pm each day and is completely free to attend.
