An official Notice of Vacancy has been issued confirming that a casual vacancy has arisen in the office of Parish Councillor for Burnaston Parish Council.
The statutory process is set out in the official Notice of Vacancy, which can be viewed here:
If, by 2 February 2026, a valid request for an election is made in writing to the Proper Officer by ten electors of the Parish, an election will be held to fill the vacancy.
If no such request is received by that date, the vacancy may be filled by co-option.
At this stage, the Parish Council is required to leave the process open until it is known whether an election will be called or whether co-option will apply.
No further action can be taken until this period has concluded.
