Reporting potholes and fly-tipping

Split image showing two reporting scenarios. On the left, a pothole in a rural road marked with a location pin, with a sign reading “Report Pothole” and a person holding a mobile phone to report it. On the right, a pile of fly-tipped waste including tyres and household items in a rural field beside a sign reading “No Dumping – Report It”, with a council worker holding a device to report the incident.

Burnaston Parish Council would like to remind residents how to report potholes and fly-tipping, so issues can be dealt with by the appropriate authority as quickly as possible.

Reporting potholes

Potholes on public roads, pavements and highways are the responsibility of Derbyshire County Council.

Potholes can be reported online using the County Council’s reporting system:

Providing clear details such as the exact location and, where possible, a photograph can help speed up inspection and repair.

Reporting fly-tipping

Fly-tipping (the illegal dumping of waste) should be reported to South Derbyshire District Council.

Fly-tipping can be reported online here:

Fly-tipping – South Derbyshire District Councilhttps://www.southderbyshire.gov.uk/environment/environmental-health/fly-tipping

Reports can be made anonymously. Please do not attempt to move or clear fly-tipped waste yourself.
