South Derbyshire District Council has received an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Opinion application for a proposed residential-led development on land south of Mickleover.
An EIA Scoping Opinion helps to identify what environmental matters must be assessed as part of any future planning application. At this stage, it does not grant planning permission but seeks agreement on the scope of environmental information that would be required. What is an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)?
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process used to identify and assess the potential environmental effects of a proposed development before a planning decision is made.
It looks at matters such as:
Traffic and transport
Noise and air quality
Impact on wildlife and habitats
Flood risk and drainage
Landscape and visual impact
Effects on local communities
The application can be viewed online using the following link:https://planning.southderbyshire.gov.uk/dmapps.aspx/?ref=DMOT/2025/1599
Residents and interested parties may submit comments directly to South Derbyshire District Council no later than 5 January 2026.
Comments can be made by replying to the consultation email or by using the online comment form available via the link above. If additional time is required to respond, a request can be made to the case officer. Any extension is at their discretion and must still comply with statutory decision timescales.
Once a decision has been made, the decision notice and officer’s report will be published on the planning portal.
Burnaston Parish Council encourages residents to review the information and submit any comments they wish to make directly to the District Council.
