Notice: Land Referencing Activity – Chesterfield to Willington Project

- 1 min read

We have been informed by National Grid that land referencing activity is currently underway in relation to the proposed Chesterfield to Willington energy infrastructure project.
As part of this process, National Grid’s land agents, Ardent, have been working to identify individuals or organisations with a legal interest in land that may be affected by the proposals. This has involved reviewing Land Registry data and verifying information through local checks.
What’s Happening?
From around 23 June 2025, land referencing teams will begin placing site notices at entrances to land parcels where ownership or occupancy could not be confirmed through desk-based research. These notices will:
Show the boundary of the land in question
Request any relevant ownership or occupancy information
Include contact details for the land team
In addition, nearby landowners may be contacted to help clarify local landholding details.
Why This Matters
You may see these notices around Burnaston parish. This is part of National Grid’s routine land referencing work to ensure they engage appropriately with landowners and occupiers as the project develops. We hope this information is helpful should residents approach you with queries.
